Launched in 2021 as part of Saudi Vision 2030, the Saudi Green Initiative coordinates government agencies, private companies, and nonprofit partners to rehabilitate degraded rangeland, expand vegetation cover, and reduce carbon emissions across the Kingdom's arid landscape. Field teams and partner organizations plant trees and shrubs, encourage natural vegetation regeneration, and establish protected areas to slow desertification of steppe and range land. As of mid-2025, the initiative reported more than 151 million trees planted and 500,000 hectares of degraded land rehabilitated, on the way to a longer-term goal of 10 billion trees planted across the Kingdom.
