Rescuing and Rewilding Florida's Manatees
by Save the Manatee Club Β· HQ πΊπΈ United States
Save the Manatee Club funds and coordinates manatee research, rescue, rehabilitation and release efforts across Florida in partnership with federal, state and accredited wildlife facilities, while its Adopt-A-Manatee programme channels public donations into habitat protection, watercraft-speed-zone advocacy and legal action. The Club assisted the Manatee Rescue and Rehabilitation Partnership with the largest single-day release of rehabilitated manatees in history, when 12 animals returned to the wild at Blue Spring State Park in February 2023. It also collects public sighting reports year-round to help track individual manatees like those at its flagship Blue Spring and Homosassa Springs webcam sites.
