SayTrees Miyawaki Urban Forests

What began as a handful of Bengaluru techies planting trees on weekends in 2007 has grown into SayTrees Environmental Trust, one of India's most active urban greening NGOs. Using the dense, fast-growing Miyawaki method, volunteers convert leftover urban plots, railway land and roadside strips into multi-layer native forests designed to lower the urban heat-island effect and improve local air quality. The trust has now planted more than 10 million trees overall and created over 200 Miyawaki urban forests, mobilising volunteers across states in India.
