Sea Turtle Conservancy

Founded in 1959 by Dr. Archie Carr, the Sea Turtle Conservancy is the world's oldest sea turtle research and conservation organization. Its flagship program at Tortuguero, Costa Rica—where it helped establish Tortuguero National Park—runs one of the longest continuous sea turtle monitoring and tagging efforts on Earth. Decades of protection have coincided with dramatic recovery of green turtle nesting in the region.
