Rescuing Ireland's Sick and Orphaned Seals

Seal Rescue Ireland runs a 24-hour rescue line and a Courtown Harbour rehabilitation centre staffed by a network of trained volunteers who respond to stranded grey and harbour seal pups all along the Irish coast. Beyond hands-on rescue and release, the charity conducts coastline population surveys, investigates seal fatalities, and runs beach clean-ups and school programmes to build a constituency for ocean conservation. In 2024 alone its team rescued 169 seals and released 97 back into the wild.
