SeaTrees partners with grassroots organizations across ten countries to restore high-carbon coastal ecosystems β€” mangrove forests, kelp forests, seagrass meadows, coral reefs and coastal watersheds β€” funded by surf brands, hospitality companies and individual donors. Since launching in 2019, the program has planted or restored more than four million SeaTrees across 25 active project sites and six ecosystem types, including restoring over 100 hectares of degraded mangrove forest at Mida Creek in Kenya. Sustainable Surf, the 501(c)(3) parent nonprofit founded in 2011, also runs the ECOBOARD Project promoting lower-impact surfboard manufacturing.
