The 2021 KNP Complex Fire tore through Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, killing an estimated 1,300 to 2,400 mature giant sequoias across roughly 16 groves. Sequoia Parks Conservancy partners with the National Park Service and US Forest Service on cone harvesting, seedling propagation, and replanting in the hardest-hit groves, part of an interagency effort that has germinated some 110,000 giant sequoia seedlings for replanting severely burned areas. The Conservancy's KNP Complex Fire Recovery Fund channels public donations directly into this multi-year grove restoration and monitoring work.
