Founded in 2007, Shan Shui Conservation Center is a Chinese NGO working in the Sanjiangyuan region of the Tibetan Plateau and the giant panda ranges of Sichuan. Since 2009 it has run camera-trap monitoring networks for snow leopards and other predators in partnership with Peking University and local herding communities, and since 2007 has organized community-based patrols and habitat monitoring in panda country. The center pairs species research with citizen science and sustainable livelihood programs to reduce human-wildlife conflict.
