199,000 kg of Unsold Bread, Run to Welfare Homes by Singapore Volunteers

Food from the Heart's Bread Run began in 2003 with about 120 volunteers and now relies on about 1,700 Bread Runners who collect unsold bread from independent bakeries and hotels seven days a week, 365 days a year. In 2025 the programme distributed 199,000 kg of bread worth about S$2.4 million to nearly 15,500 beneficiaries across more than 110 welfare homes. Across all its programmes the charity reports nourishing 70,470 beneficiaries and distributing S$9.7 million of food in the last year, with 84,007 volunteering hours.
