Skate-Aid: Building Skateparks as Safe Spaces for Kids Worldwide

Skate-aid e.V., based in Berlin, builds skateparks and runs pedagogical skate workshops for children in crisis and post-conflict settings, from Uganda and Namibia to Syria and Nepal. Since 2009, the organization has delivered more than 25 projects in 18 countries across four continents, partnering with local skaters, brands, and NGOs on the ground. Its newest skatepark opened in Damascus, Syria, in partnership with SOS Children's Villages to run educational workshops for children affected by conflict. Skate-aid treats each park as a safe space for self-socialization and inclusion where origin, religion, and social status don't matter.
