SOS-Menschenrechte: Housing and Human Rights Education for Refugees in Linz
by SOS-Menschenrechte ยท HQ ๐ฆ๐น Austria
SOS-Menschenrechte has operated a residential facility for asylum seekers on Linz's Rudolfstrasse since 1996, now consolidated into the 1,000-square-metre Haus der Menschenrechte, which houses around 50-60 unaccompanied minors and adult asylum seekers across two residential areas alongside partner organization EXIT-sozial. Beyond housing, its team provides social work, psychological counseling, and school and career support, plus German-language courses. Its Stand Up! program sends trainers into Austrian schools to run interactive human-rights and anti-discrimination workshops, and it produces the Arabic-language podcast 'Willkommen in Oร' and a human-rights podcast with community broadcaster Radio FRO to widen access to information for newcomers.
