Svenska Rovdjursföreningen (the Swedish Carnivore Association) formed in 1997 from the merger of two grassroots groups, Våra Rovdjur and Varggruppen, to give Sweden's four large carnivores — wolf, lynx, bear and wolverine — a voice in wildlife policy. The roughly 4,000-member association combines political advocacy, legal action and public education with hands-on work, including helping livestock owners install predator-deterrent fencing to reduce conflicts between farms and carnivores. It also runs guided wolf- and lynx-tracking excursions so the public can encounter these animals directly rather than only through hunting-lobby narratives.
