Growing the Great Green Wall Across the Sahel

Founded in 1987, Tree Aid partners with communities in Burkina Faso, Mali, Ghana, Niger, Senegal and Ethiopia to grow trees, restore degraded drylands and build resilient incomes as part of Africa's Great Green Wall. Villagers establish tree nurseries, plant woodlots and manage natural regeneration on farmland threatened by desertification, while selling shea, baobab and other tree products for income. The organization reports bringing over 264,000 hectares of land under sustainable management since it began.
