Rewilding Scotland's Caledonian Forest

Trees for Life is a Scottish charity leading landscape-scale rewilding of the Highlands, restoring fragments of the ancient Caledonian forest in places like Glen Affric and Dundreggan. With the help of more than 5,000 volunteers, it has planted and encouraged the natural regeneration of over 2 million native trees since its founding. In 2023 it opened the world's first Rewilding Centre at its Dundreggan Estate, where returning wildlife such as reintroduced red squirrels is helping restore natural woodland processes across the 200-year vision to rebuild the Caledonian Forest.
