Sorting Tunis's Recyclables, One Household at a Time

Tunisie Recyclage began as a grassroots pilot in 2012 and became a formal non-profit in May 2013, running a pre-sorted household waste collection service across the northern suburbs of Tunis. The association combines school and business awareness training, beach cleanups through its Cap Plastic Tri program, and a sorting facility staffed by its own team, and in April 2026 it opened the Medina Store, a boutique selling goods upcycled from collected materials. In 2025 alone the group's collection network recovered over 50 tonnes of recyclable waste from more than 1,000 registered participating households.
