Tzu Chi KL & Selangor has promoted environmental protection since 1995, following Master Cheng Yen's call to 'use your applauding hands to do recycling'. Volunteers run recycling centres and drop-off points across Malaysia, with a public 'Recycling Centres / Points' directory on the foundation's site. In August 2025 the foundation opened a Green Action exhibition marking 30 years of recycling. This year's nationwide plogging initiative drew more than 8,500 participants and collected over 7,500 kg of litter, nearly half of it recyclable.
