Warrior Moms Fight for India's Right to Breathe

Launched in September 2020 by five mothers alarmed by their children's health, Warrior Moms is a women-led citizen movement, not a funded NGO, that trains and mobilizes mothers to campaign against vehicle emissions, crop and waste burning, and industrial pollution. The network has grown to more than 1,500 mothers active across 13 Indian states, running hyperlocal campaigns from landfill fires in Chandigarh to a Delhi High Court plea over 77,000 trees felled in three years. Warrior Moms also pushes clean-cooking transitions away from smoky chulhas and has represented Indian mothers at COP26 in Glasgow.
