WEEE Centre: Safely Recycling Kenya's E-Waste

Launched in 2012, the WEEE Centre is one of the few ISO-certified electronic waste recyclers in East Africa, collecting discarded computers, phones and appliances from businesses, schools, government offices and households across Kenya. At its Nairobi facility, staff dismantle and sort devices for repair, refurbishment or safe material recovery, keeping hazardous components like lead and mercury out of informal dumpsites. The center runs eight collection points around the country and has helped seed similar e-waste programs elsewhere in Africa.
