Zembo, founded in Kampala in 2018, sells and leases electric motorcycles to boda boda riders and runs the battery-swap stations that power them, replacing the petrol bikes that dominate the city's traffic. Its website reports over 2,000 drivers powered and over 50 million kilometres driven clean. A July 2026 report on its first Moto-E event also put its fleet at more than 2,000 active electric motorcycles on Ugandan roads, and in November 2025 it partnered with Tugende to finance more bikes. The figures are company-reported and have not been independently audited.
