Founded in Zagreb in 2013, the Green Energy Cooperative (ZEZ) pioneered citizen energy in Croatia, running the country's first crowd-investing campaign for a community-owned solar plant in Križevci in 2018. Since then ZEZ has supported over 600 homeowners and small businesses in going solar and helped install more than 2 MW of new capacity nationwide. Its ZEZ Sunce energy community now counts 127 members who together crowd-funded a 200 kW rooftop solar plant on the Križevci marketplace, raising the needed capital in just ten days and bringing the plant into full operation in April 2025.
