Since 2011 an Armenian NGO has been leasing degraded farmland from local communities to rebuild the only privately protected wildlife area in the South Caucasus, now a refuge for the Critically Endangered Caucasian leopard.

Since 1994, this Yerevan-rooted nonprofit has replanted the trees Armenian families were forced to cut for firewood during a post-Soviet energy crisis.
