Rede de Sementes do Cerrado organizes more than 600 native seed collectors — including twelve indigenous groups, family-farming settlements and urban communities, roughly 80% of them women — across the Cerrado biome's Xingu and Araguaia river basins. Since forming in 2007 the network has commercialized over 300 tonnes of seed from 220 native savanna species, funneling more than R$7 million directly to collector communities, and used the seed to restore degraded pasture back to grassland and savanna vegetation. In 2023 alone the network sold a record 35.3 tonnes of native seed, enough to restore up to 791 hectares of degraded Cerrado.
