Vídeo nas Aldeias: Indigenous Filmmakers Defending the Amazon

Vídeo nas Aldeias trains Indigenous people across Brazil to write, shoot and edit their own documentaries, turning video into a tool for cultural memory and land-rights advocacy. Over nearly four decades the project has built an archive of more than 80 films made in collaboration with over 40 Indigenous peoples, screened everywhere from village assemblies to international festivals. Films document deforestation, illegal mining and land invasions as they happen, giving communities footage they can use in negotiations with the Brazilian state. The project has also trained generations of Indigenous filmmakers who now run their own independent production collectives.
